Designed for small cabins, the dometic cuddy ii is a self-contained, water-cooled air conditioner for boats cruising in either freshwater or saltwater. the cuddy ii is 12v dc-powered and draws power gently at startup for a progressive low starting surge.. We have used this ac setup on our last two boats, it works great and is an easy / inexpensive way to add air conditioning. hear more cruising tips and ideas on our sailing & cruising podcast at. 12 v air conditioning is limited to small units, due to the power required. for a small cuddy cabin of around 200cu ft a 3,000 btu air conditioner will suffice (200 * 15). power to this device for 8 hours you will need 3 group 27 batteries (or similar combination) totaling 270-315 amp hours..
